Answer 1 of 19: Hello, I hope someone can clarify a very confusing issue for me. I have read that euros, lira and £s are used as currency in Turkey. Which one do I take away with me?
Save. Hi Jill. To be honest i would take a small amount of Euro and get turkish lira with Pounds sterling when you get there. All 3 currencies are used i.e 3 T shirts for £10 in the markets but on the dolmus or in restaurants you can use Euro or Turkish lira. In my opinion you get more for your money on the dolmus using TL.
The only time it makes sense to spend euros in Turkey is if you're trying to use up some leftover euros that you have lying around. Buying euros specifically to take to Turkey is a bad idea; you'll lose a bit of money when your currency is converted from British pounds to euros, and again when your currency is converted from euros to Turkish lira.

I'd suggest changing a little before travel then bring Answer 1 of 2: Dear Kind Travels Forum, I am bringing some Turkish Lira that I have purchased in USA for a 5 week trip to Turkey starting in Antalya and then to Bodrom and then for 4 days in Istanbul. I have left over Euro from my last trip to Greece. Can I Answer 1 of 4: Hi, Heading to Antalya (Belek) later this week, I'm only taking around 1000 Liras, and hoping to put everything else on my card. I did read that some local markets won't accept Liras, and all their prices are in Euros. So in short, for the best data coverage, go for Turkcell, for the best-priced data plan, go for Telekom.
